Excursion
Volubilis, Moulay Idriss Zerhoun and Meknes
The Excursion will depart from
the Palais Medina & Spa Fez Hotel
On the third day of the conference participants are invited to join a full-day excursion through three remarkable destinations in the heart of Morocco: the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, the sacred hilltop town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, and the historic imperial city of Meknes.
From Roman ruins and ancient mosaics to sacred heritage and magnificent Moroccan architecture, the excursion offers an opportunity to discover the region’s rich history, culture and landscapes while enjoying a day outside the conference setting.
The excursion fee is €45. It can be paid on site or on the “Registration Payment” page, without the need to update your registration.
Transportation and entrance fees to the monuments are included in the excursion fee. Participants will also have free time during the day to explore, enjoy the surroundings and have lunch at their own convenience.
Food and personal expenses are not included.
Volubilis
Step back in time at Volubilis, one of Morocco’s most remarkable archaeological sites. Once an important Roman city, its impressive ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into life in ancient North Africa.
Participants can explore the remains of monumental buildings, ancient streets, columns and some of the site’s remarkably preserved Roman mosaics, set against the beautiful agricultural landscape of the region.
Volubilis provides a unique opportunity to experience the meeting of Roman, North African and Mediterranean histories in one extraordinary setting.
Moulay Idriss Zerhoun
Nestled among the hills of northern Morocco, Moulay Idriss Zerhoun is a picturesque town with deep religious and historical significance. Named after Moulay Idriss I, the founder of Morocco’s Idrisid dynasty, the town is an important pilgrimage destination and one of Morocco’s most distinctive historic settlements.
With its whitewashed buildings, winding streets and dramatic hillside setting, Moulay Idriss offers visitors a glimpse into a quieter and more traditional side of Morocco.
Participants will have the opportunity to discover the town, take in its panoramic views and experience its unique atmosphere.
Meknes
The final destination is Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and a city renowned for its monumental architecture, historic medina and rich cultural heritage.
Participants will discover the historic character of the city, including its impressive gates, traditional streets and architectural landmarks. Meknes reflects the grandeur of Morocco’s imperial past while remaining a vibrant city with a distinctive local atmosphere.
There will also be free time in Meknes, allowing participants to explore at their own pace, discover local shops and cafés, or enjoy lunch independently.
